Hey everyone I was wondering which one of these products u prefer for frosting and or fillings? I've also noticed a couple recipies for bettercream and was wondering if I could use any of these products in them? Other words are these items interchangable? Last question, I actually just purchased the frosting pride and was wondering how I go about using it for frosting? Do I just whip it then add in any flavor? Will it crust? Thanks guys!

I use Rich's Bettercream (pre-made) as icing, but will only use PastryPride for filling (mixed with various fruits, flavorings). I've never used Frosting Pride. I know the PP has instructions on the side of the carton- I think FP does too?

I prefer Bettercream over pastry pride...one time I overwhipped pastry pride and it became like butter and after that it's, sort of, ruined--but if you ever overwhipp Bettercream you can just add liquid bettercream and viola, it's fixed!!

None of these will crust.

I only use Frostin Pride. Whipped frosting's will not crust to the point where you can use the paper towel method for smoothing. You have to use the hot knife method. The large blue tiered cake in my pictures was frosted with Frostin Pride. You have to use it like you would when using whipped cream. Mix on medium low speed using your whisk attachment. It also helps to chill your bowl and whisk. It takes some time to whip this frosting about thirty minutes. I usually let it whip for about twenty minutes then speed up the mixture for the last part of mixing. Do not over mix whipped frosting's. It is better to under whip just a little. When you work with this frosting the more you squeeze your decorating bag the faster it will set up. Keep it covered when you are not using it. It will form a slight crust. Do not touch the side of you cake once it has crusted. Frostin Pride takes on colors better than the others. If I need a dark color I add coloring gel to the liquid form because the more you mix the firmer it will get. You can purchase a pre mixed bucket of whipped frosting at Sam's Club for under 20 dollars but it's a large bucket.

sweettreat101 said it all perfectly!

I love Frostin Pride...I used it for frostings and I also add sugar free puddings and fruit to it to make mousse like fillings!

The chocolate bettercreme is pretty tasty as well..its great for fillings!

thanks linda! i was actually going to try and make a filling for a cake coming up with it. i can just add the oreo instant pudding to the already whipped frosting pride and then fold in some crushed up oreo? does that sound right? or should i put the pudding in before i whip it?

It can be done both ways. You can add the pudding to the Frostin Pride an whip or you can add crushed cookies after it has been whipped. I wouldn't try to add the powdered pudding mix to Frostin Pride once it has already been mixed it will turn out grainy.
