I was wondering if anyone has a template or instructions on how to make a beach umbrella out of fondant or gumpaste? I've searched all of the template section and did a search in the forums and found nothing, so I apologize if this was already asked/answered! Is it basically a circle laid upside down in a bowl (or something similar)??

Not sure what size you're making, but here's a tutorial that I think can be adapted...scroll down: http://sugarteachers.blogspot.com/2010/06/lifes-beach.html

I simply used a scalloped circle cookie cutter and then put the cirlcle over a small rounded object, (ie... the bottom of a small cup or glass) to let it dry with the edges drooping down over the edges. The I cut smaller circles and placed on the inside and out side for a little extra suppor. I used a toothpick that had fondant wrapped around it as the stand and pit the tip of the toothpick into the circles that were placed for reinforcement. Hope thats not too confusing. You can see the umbrella that I made on my barrel of monkeys cake.

Today, I was searching discussion on Google for beach umbrella & patio umbrellas and found this one! It's all about cake but, interesting for me. I have checked tutorials which were suggested by few members. I'm quite late on this discussion but, I can't stop my self to be here!
