How many regular size cupcakes can you get out of the two cake mix size WASC recipe? I need to make 120 cupcakes.

I just made 100 cupcakes for my newest Grandson's Christening. I'm pretty sure I got around 48.

I just made 90 cupcakes for a 1st BD. I got 30 using a #20 scoop. I filled mine 3/4 full so as to get a domed cupcake. They still came out relatively flat so I would really appreciate any advice /recipe that will give me a domed cupcake. I tried the preheat to 400dg & then drop down to 350 but it didn't really work. Sorry if I should be putting this in another thread, I'm not sure.

DAHHHH After I posted, and saw what the other ladies said, I know I was way off. Five dozen is more like it. I thought back, and remembered that I had made 2 dozen of each flavor filling and topping. I had 2 dozen rasberry, 2 dozen almond roca, and 1 dozen regular vanilla. Sorry, can't get away from these brain farts!lol

I just made some and I only got 27. I just a BC cake mix and the WASC on recipe on here. The tops were very slightly mounded over the edge of the wrapper.

That's for just one recipe, right?

And yes, the brand will make a difference, too. I get the 5 doz from DH.

WASC stands for white almond sour cream cake. You can find the recipe in the recipes section.

I am not sure how anyone gets 5 dozen unless they are small cupcakes. I use the WASC in different flavors almost every time I make cupcakes and I get 36 cupcakes out of 1 WASC recipe using one cake mix in either DH or BC. I may get a few more if I make a couple smaller unintentionally but I always count on 36 cupcakes per recipe. I also get a nice dome every time I use this recipe but no muffin top if I do not overfill.

Okay, I think I know why there is some confusion over the amount of cup cakes. When you make the wasc with 2 boxes of cake mix you would get around 5 dozen. One box would be appox. 2 1/2 dozen filled 2/3. If you read the back of the BC box, it says you would get 20-25 cupcakes 2/3 full. On the back of DH it says 24 cupcakes. When you figure in the extra ingredients thats what gives you the larger amount of cup cakes. Does this sound right?

Iggy
Try baking at 400 for 5 minutes, then drop down to 325 for the rest of the time. It always works for me. I got that info from cakejournal.com.
