How does Fondx compare to Fondarific?

I'm thinking about trying Fondx because it seems to be cheaper than Fondarific. I haven't tried it before and I'm wondering how it compares. If you have used Fondx at all before could you please rate your experience with it?

I used it to cover the cookies in my posts. It was very easy to work with, but does not taste as good as Fondarific.

I just used the buttercream Fondarific to cover cupcakes and I think it really tastes good. I cut the rounds last night and put them on the cupcakes today and it was still flexible. I have never used Fondex though so I can't comment on that. Hope that helps.

FondX is a pretty traditional fondant. It's a bit softer than Satin Ice or Wilton. Taste is pretty neutral. You can add tylose to it and get a lovely gum paste/modeling paste for making figures and flowers. It's nothing like Fondarific.

Fondarific/Duff's Fondant has a base similar to candy melts. It's got a LOT more fat in it than traditional fondant. It also has more flavoring added. It's best for covering cakes and flat applications.

I bought some Fond-x online once and I liked it. The problem is the Virgin White doesn't color well, it takes the color but about 15 minutes later it changes- with certain colors anyway. Pettinice is another one that is inexpensive, tastes pretty good and takes color well.

Depends upon what you like- if you like buttercream taste you might like fondarific however I find Fondx much easier to work with and the taste its several times better- it has a basic sweet cream taste that seems to be more popular. Fondarific tears easily and is rather difficult to use- as someone else stated its best use is basic applications.
