I like "Bakery by the Bay." I don't like "Ely's Mom's Treats."

Ely's Mom's Treats has too many S's and doesn't roll off of the tongue very smooth.

I might like Decadent Desserts by itself, with no name at the end.

Words like Decadent and Sinfully (delicious) set up some extreme expectations. I've obviously not tasted your items, but with names like this, the taste better make me just melt on the floor ...... or my review to my friends would be "It's sinful all right .... sinful that she describes her cakes that way!" and it may end up with more harm than good.

Bakery by the Bay has a nice sound of alliteration that is attractive to the ear, easy to say, and illicits a pleasant visual of open water with a pleasant breeze blowing thru my hair as I snack on a cupcake! And it sounds like a destination .....

"Let's go to the Bakery by the Bay.....!" sounds more normal than "Let's go to Sinfully Delish.....!"

I think I like "Bakery By the Bay." It's unique, rolls off the tongue nicely and, like Debi said, it brings good images to mind.

When you pick a name, remember it's spoken into a phone many times a day. Make it easy to just roll off the tongue. Personally as a customer I don't want a long hello.. I want to get down to it.

Here are a few twists I came up with on your list..

Ely's by the Bay
Sinfully Decadent

What bay are you near? I think I'd like something like... Harbor Bay Bakery instead of Bakery by the Bay--it gives location, and people will never forget where you are.

Sinfully delicious sweets Too long--too many syllables
Sinfully delish --Delish conjurs up Rachel Ray and honestly I'd pass on by--She talks about how she hates to bake, etc.. maybe I'm too tuned into her overuse of delish and sammie ??
Ely's moms treats --I'd twist that one around my tongue for sure.. doesn't flow.
Decadent desserts by durell maybe.... Durell's Decadent Desserts??
Bakery by the bay

I know how hard it is to decide on a name!! But what an exciting time!

This probably wont' apply to many on here, but research I'm doing into business names suggest staying away from your city/location unless you specifically want to be know by that. 1) If your business expands, then your name won't work well if you open a 2nd bakery in, say, Des Moines. 2) Using your city's name just puts you in the middle of a long list of other businesses that also have the city name in THEIR business name.

And Bakery by the Bay reminds me of the song by Journey, "Lights" ("and my city by the bay"), which is a really big "feel good" feeling for me! thumbs_up.gif

Anything that reminds me of RR is something that I'd pass by also. Hubby is STILL in the doghouse for buying me a t-shirt that has "Yum-oh!" across the front of it! (He still thinks its funny though!)

You really like alliteration, don't you? But Bakery by the Bay is probably the best of what you listed, but I believe someone listed "Bayside Bakery" as an option. I think that's actually a better name.

I was shopping in Dillion's about a year ago, and it seemed every aisle I went down RR's face was staring back at me. She was on the Olive Oil, she was on Triscuits, Wheat Thins.. they had end caps with her.. ARG!! The last straw came when her raspy-over used voice came over the sound system advertising something and of course there were a few yum-os, delishs.. thrown in. I was near the crackers and actually turned a few boxes with her mug on them around.

The woman totally gets on my last nerve!

Ah u guys r so helpful thank you! Bayside bakery is actually really sounding good to me. Think ill throw it around a bit and see if it sticks! Lol. I feel like I'm naming my son all over again lol! Of course his name wasn't final until my water popped! Hmm I didn't really think of racheal ray when I thought of delish ( I don't watch her) it was actually a name of a resturant on the 24hr resturant show. But ill def re-think that I don't want to be associated with the RR craze anyways thanks again guys for All the great info!
