Almost all my recipes are doctored mixes based off of the wasc recipe. I have been using the amazing chocolate wasc recipe but it seems to produce such an airy cupcake so to me then it seems like it came from a box only and I would like to find one that make a denser cupcake. Anyone have one? I have tried adding less liquid to the recipe but that didn't seem to work either.

I've started using sugarshack's "Durable cake recipe", it's on her site and it is now the one I use for chocolate cake, great dense and delicious cake!

Here is the link to the vanilla one, but you'll see also there is one for chocolate, it just addss 2 more Tbs oil and uses chocolate pudding, I also sub coffe for the water in my chocolate one. hth

Raquel, that's a GREAT idea using the coffee instead of the water. I'll have to try that! icon_biggrin.gif

Triple Chocolate fudge cake on here:

Wonderful flavor!!! And the best for carving and stacking! If you dont need that much cake, i usually just half the recipe using my fave chocolate cake mix, Dark chocolate, if going for a less sweet cake, or regular chocolate. chocolate fudge, etc for more like the larger version of the recipe's flavor. Either way you wont be sorry!

This is probably a stupid question, but what if you don't want chocolate chips in the cake? I understand not adding the additional chips, but I'm not really interested in digging them out of a cake mix.

Assuming you're sifting your cake mix because of course you are icon_wink.gif you wouldn't have to pick them out, they will sift to the top and then just trash them icon_smile.gif

I think The "Triple Chocolate Fudge" Cake mix comes with some in the mix, but they are soooo tiny you would never know they are there when its baked...Like I wouldnt even call them chips in there... more like specks! hahah

As far as the added mini chips, you can leave them out if you like, i do it all the time if im out. but honestly using the mini chips... they bake in rather well so you dont really get "chunks of chocolate" noticeably in the finished cake. When i do cupcakes with this recipe, i do notice/see the chocolate, but they are melted so well its all soft like the cake. All in personal preference, so if you don't want them there, it wont hurt the recipe! icon_wink.gif
