Errm....she wants a Hello Kitty birthday cake. She wants a white with lemon filling and IMBC. I do not want to make a Hello Kitty's face cake...I want something more "mature". And I won't be covering the cake with fondant....she is not a fan of fondant...so I want the cake to be mainly buttercream with fondant accent.
Originally, i thought of making a shoe and handbag cake. TQ icon_wink.gif

Is this a complaint? A request for validation to not make what she desires?

I'm equally confused.

Is your MIL into shoes and handbags? I see nothing wrong with the cake she want. Maybe she doesn't want to feel as "mature" this birthday.

Well I think there are plenty of things your can do othere than a typical head of hello kitty cake. Although most hello kitty cakes are for children I think that you could "mature" it as you put it. The link below is one of my favorite Hello Kitty cakes on CC. Something like this could be done in BC instead of fondant and even RI accents if you didn't want to do fondant accents. The handbag and shoe would be cute though too. icon_smile.gif

It is her birthday, right?

Why not combine her request with something that you might have a little more fun with...have Hello Kitty with some shopping bags? Or make a handbag with Hello Kitty on it? There are plenty of them out there for you to copy into cake form.

Good luck with your cake.

Yeah, she's definitely into shoes and bags and I want to incorporate that with Hello Kitty and that was the reason why I do not want the Hello Kitty's head. Cos if I do the head, the focus will be the head and nothing else.

I have one in my photos that I did for a 20 year old. She was very happy with it. It is buttercream with a fondant Hello Kitty and fondant accents. Good Luck!! icon_smile.gif
