A woman asked me, 2 weeks ago, if I made wedding cakes, I told her yes. She tells me that her wedding is September 4th and she hasn't ordered a cake yet. I told her she better order one soon!! She told me she knows a guy she works with that makes cakes and she'll check with him. Last Tuesday I was suppose to meet her and discuss making her cake. I go to meet with her, bringing my contracts, pictures, etc. with me, waited a half hour and she doesn't show. I never received a call or email from her. I chalked it up as no problem, don't need the hassle dealing with someone who disregards my time. I just found out this morning that she thinks I'm making her cake!!! I don't have a signed contract with her or a deposit. I'm tossing it back and forth whether I want to deal with this. She also informs me she doesn't want to spend much for the cake!

Any suggestions?????

"Sorry you missed our appointment the other day. Hope you've had good luck finding someone to bake your cake. How's the rest of the wedding planning going?" BIG SMILE

If it were me I would remind her that she didn't show up for her appointment and I am totally booked for that date. If she has already started off on bad terms just think of whats to come. You will make her a beautiful cake but she won't want to pay the price or possibly some other issue will arise and she will want some sort of discount. I wouldn't even mess with this one.

Email her back and resolve any misconceptions she might have about you making her cake. Copy and paste what leah_s said and go about your day icon_smile.gif

Do you owe this person something? Did she pull you out of a burning building at the last second? I say go with what you already feel. Remember how it felt to sit there and wait? She doesn't respect your time, and obviously not your talent either, or she would never mention the $$.

You won't ever be treated professionally if you don't act professional.

Been there did that---NEVER AGAIN....I had a weeks notice for 07-07-07 (remember that????) it was my birthday and I really thought I could pull it off (DUH!!) 90 degree heat...wrong pillars, stupid daisies...I broke the topper and had to tape it together...on top of all that it was a backyard wedding...and I guess they decided to FERTILIZE the yard so it stank like ---- an OUTSIDE wedding! The icing softened and with all of that I just wanted to get the heck out of there....You are well rid of this..No No No No! I vote NO!!! Photo is the yellow tiered cake in my pix...I should delete it!!! lol
Just checked..Guess I already did....good riddance

I have to let you know what happened! I quoted a price and the btb told me she's going to check with Big Y (grocery store) to see if their prices are cheaper. I told her I wouldn't be available and I wished her the best. I feel such relief not having to deal with this! Good luck Big Y icon_lol.gif

how can she think you are making her cake when no contrat was signed or deposit given??
i wouldnt give it a second thought-other than maybe send her an email and inform her that you are making her cake.
