Make A Black Satin Effect On Fondant?
Decorating By DianeLM Updated 20 Dec 2012 , 12:21pm by Goldberry
Pearl dust works for pretty much every color except black. Or, is there a trick to it?
I've needed it for tux lapels, but now I need to make a black bustier and would really like to give the whole thing a satin sheen.
Thanks!
Pearl airbrush paint works well. It doesn't dull the black as much as just using the dust.
Here is a cake I did recently, the color wasn't black to start with, it was a charcoal gray, but you can see it didn't dull the color too much.
The attachment thing isn't working, maybe this link will?

Beautiful cake, Loucinda! I think I actually have some airbrush pearl. Better check before I head out to the store.
Thanks for the info, zkl3. Unfortunately, this cake is due in less than a week, so I won't be able to use it this time, but I'm definitely interested in it for future use!
Ait depends on how shiny you want it white fat works or confectioners glaze will give you a shine
