She took down access to her blog and removed the link from her profile as soon as she was found out. Sad.

Instead of owning up or explaining herself, she simply removed access to her website link via CC. She must have first removed that section of her blog after being outed. Sad really, she does good work.

She removed it. It was on her CC profile but it's gone now. I swear, the things people do to get attention! I guess this one backfired!

WWW button is missing from her profile and post now. Oops looks like she is not as clever as she thought. Its a shame that we have to read these posts with doubts as to their intent and honesty.

Nice catch!

It's beyond pathetic that someone would do this, so I reported the original post.

I can't help it but my heart goes out to the OP. Who knows why she would do something like that? None of us have any idea what sort of issues or problems she might have going on in her life. Now she must feel so humiliated. At the end of the day, all of us want our hard work appreciated by someone. Maybe she didn't have that in her life and turned to the cake central message boards for that affirmation. Whether she told the truth or not, her cakes ARE cute. If they were a favorite before, they should still be a favorite. Let's all have some compassion here . . . this is a real person we are talking about and not just a screen name.

Yeah, I didn't really care about the post being a sham, I just thought it was goofy for her to delete the link and go through all the trouble of blocking access to her site when you can find just about everything in cache icon_biggrin.gif

I guess she learned something from this post after all...... icon_razz.gif

Ya, the cake has 18 favorites on cc, and that is alot. So I dont think that she needed to do that. I don't like it when people make up stuff, then you're never quite sure about alot of posts. Maybe the 18 fav's came after her post though.

I really wish I understood what an individual gets from creating drama on a cake website. It's cake. It's fun, it's sweet, it's delicious.

For the love of Frank, if someone wants feedback on their work, just ask. This gal does cute cakes and if she wanted encouragement or to feel a little better, a simple "Would anyone mind looking over my posted cakes? I'm feeling a little under-confident today and I just want to make sure that they don't suck." would've garnered her tons of compliments without the lying she resorted to.

I think she embarrassed herself by outright lying. The removal of the WWW link in her profile and her blog post about the cake in question after someone noticed it indicates this wasn't an honest mistake. icon_rolleyes.gif

I noticed there was nothing but "playing nice" before this unraveled with posters complimenting her work, adding her photos to favorites, and overall moral support at what turns out to be a false insult. At what point does "playing nice" cross into allowing oneself to be a doormat?

Whenever someone posts something to a website/blog/whatever, google makes a copy of it as of a certain date. If you do a google search, you'll see that under almost every link the word "cache" is there on the right. You click on it and it brings up the most recent copied version of that page. It will also highlight your search words in a page(which is really useful if you're searching for a recipe or something that was left in the comments so you don't have to read them all).
Even if someone deletes something completely on their site, you can almost always view a copy in cache. There has been a time or two that I couldn't find something, but not often.

ETA to avoid hijacking this thread, if you'd like more info feel free to pm me.

Seriously, who complains over a FREE cake? icon_confused.gif It is the farm cake in my pictures.

What's that game we've all played where things get twisted before it gets the the person on the other end...could this also be the case? Could there be jealousy along the chain of information? Until you hear it from the recipients mouth, it's hearsay. It would not be farfetched for me to approach the recipient and ask point blank how she liked the cake.

It doesn't have to be confrontational..."I'm just checking how the farm cake was received. Could I have done anything different? (then add some blah blah blah about maybe it being the first farm cake or whatever and wanted feedback is all) We do grade ourselves on the feedback from our cakes, right?

You might read the other posts on this thread before you bother offering advice to a bogus OP.

True, she embarrassed herself.

I remember making fun of someone once. Then, realizing I had crossed a line, said, "Sorry, I didn't mean to embarrass you." She quickly shot back, "Dear, you can't embarrass someone else; you can only embarrass yourself."

Let's see how long this thread drags on.

Yes, she lied. So what. I think we've all gotten the point on what she did. I think that some people feed too much into the "drama" and not focus on the importance of this site.

It's like watching an accident on the side of the street.

You Guys are ALL right! She embarassed herself; Lying is something that we are thought not to do, but for some odd reason people still do it... Like someone said in one of the previous reply post, we don't know whats going on in her life, maybe noone gives her the support she needs or tells her that her cakes look good; BUT AMYand3 that doesn't give you the right to lie about things like that, I think that by deleting your WWW.blog from here you are being a coward and I think YOU should APOLOGIZE to ALL THESE WONDERFUL PEOPLE HERE IN CC THAT REALLY DID TAKE A MOMENT TO READ YOUR FAKE SITUATION AND POST SOMETHING NICE SO THAT YOU GET ATTENTION!???!

Yeah but some of those scary quick folks actually helped me out once. I spent a fortune trademarking my name only to discover I was taken in a scam. Now having to start the process all over again, and unfortunately can't do so until I raise the funds to do it. Now my name that I have had for over 10 years is fair game to anyone outside my dba areas. Sucks. But thanks to them knowing where to look, because I sure didn't, I now have the info I need and the direct channel necessary to get 'er done...LOL!

If you are being honest you have no worries icon_wink.gif
