Helping Katrina Survivors : Cake Central Style

Thanks to a great suggestion by M0use, we are running a special promotion to help survivors of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.

For the entire month of September we will be donating 10% of all sales in the Cake Central Store to the Red Cross Relief Effort. This will be in addition to us maintaining the sale prices we have been offering since the store opened.

You will also find a direct link to Red Cross on the homepage if you would like to do more to help than what our store promotion can offer.

We will be keeping a running tally of the money raised by this promotion on the homepage so we can all take pride in the efforts of our community to help others improve their lives. thumbs_up.gif

If you have made a direct donation to the Red Cross, feel free to Private Message Jackie and she can add your amount to the "Direct Donations" running total. It is not necessary for you to let us know, its simply a neat way for our community to share its generosity and helpfulness with each other.
Every donation counts, wether its $1, or $100.
We will not be keeping any records of who gave what.... we are only keeping a running total.

Look at it this way, if every single CakeCentral member gave just $1 the CC community would be donating over $12,000.00 as a whole, not including any sales from the store. icon_eek.gif

Thank you sooooo much! It's heartwarming to see people from all over the country come together to help in a time of crisis. The devastation here is unbelievable. I live in Sulphur by (Lake Charles) and there are so many people here who have evacuated before and after the storm. They literally have nothing and many are sick, and displaced from their families and have no way of finding them. It's a very sad situation. I'm an EMT and we will be working with these people daily for a long time. Thanks for the help and please keep everyone in your prayers! God Bless!

I really wish we could! thumbs_up.gif

In order to give our members the best price we can, we kept the margins on all our products very low. So in some instances we may actually take a loss with the donation percentage.... But it's for such a good cause, that its worth it!

I guess we could all challange each other back and forth-if everyone were able to purchase at least 1 thing-big or small-that would definately work -I know I needed a new coffee mug and what better than a CC one?? But everyone knows their own situation and sometimes just can't no matter what the disaster, some just financially can't. Prayers don't cost a cent and those can lead to big $$$$-I know everyone on CC will do what they are able-either way will be greatly appreciated,
