What Do You Do With Practice Cakes?

I need/want to practice different recipes and decorating tips, etc. I also want to learn to decorate cookies and cupcakes. However...we don't want a lot of cake and cookies around the house. What do y'all do with practice cakes? Cookies and cupcakes are easier to disperse to neighbors and stuff but a 2 tiered cake... not so much. 
I have heard of people taking them to the local fire station.
We never seem to have that problem. Hmmmmm....
I use send all my cakes to work with my hubby. I've sent 4 tier cakes with him to work LOL. I do some of my practice cakes on Thurs and Friday and then take them to church with me on Sunday's. I love doing lambeth design cakes and will practice on a cake then have a couple of ladies over for coffee.
Work would be a good option if any of us worked outside the home. Well I do but I work at a horse barn so there aren't many people to share with. I like the idea of taking it to local churches and businesses. We don't have a fire station, just a brush fire truck.... yeah seriously. Surrounding towns do though so that's an option.
Take to your local soup kitchen or homeless shelter
Drop them off at the nurses' station at any nearby hospital!

If we don't have a fire station do you really think we have a shelter or soup kitchen?? Sad I know. But I don't think they accept those things anyways.

I work at a horse barn also, and believe me, some of the horses would eat anything!!! 
I have been sending cakes with my DD to her work, so far only 1 complaint of gaining weight, so I am still good with that "cake outlet".
I guess if worst comes to worst you can pratice on dummies. 
Or you must have a police station....take it to them.
Does anyone know the rationale as to why shelters or food banks won't take the items? I would think in these times of short funding they would take most anything
When I want to do test recipes or just techniques, I use that small oval pan that came in the Wilton class kit. It's the perfect size and it's not a lot of cake to give away
I send them to my dad's office, my bosses kids, neighbors, church. Basically anywhere LOL. I find that if you take a cake to someone, most times, they don't say no and even if they "don't want it", the cake still magically gets eaten by little cake eating fairies : )

Crazy, right? Ours won't take them here either. I am sure it all comes down to a liability issue. That is the day an age we live in, too many sue happies out there and those shelters don't want to take the fall and they don't care if you are a business and insured or not...they don't want it...
Foods sealed in a box, can or bag and non perishable , that's it.
I have actually thought about calling the Childrens Hospital here in the Philadelphia area to see if they would allow this and I would bring a B-day cake in every Friday, there has to be at least one birthday child every week with all of the children there. I have yet to do it but it is always on my mind when we have a cake just sitting here because I have the urge to practice something.
I do deliver cakes and cupcakes on a whim to the people I see on a regular basis....teachers, auto mechanic, hair dresser etc. and I am here to tell you, they never say "NO"
We do have a police station thankfully!! 
They would probably like that, the 10 of them could devour a cake in no time! LOL It's a REALLY small town.
The high school is a great idea. Hadn't thought about that.
I don't get why shelters and such won't take it except for the reasons Suzisweets says. Sue happy people are everywhere! It's really sad too.
I just happened to think about a very active fire station in Auburn. Since I'm there 99% of the time instead of at home (30 miles away) that would be a good place to start. Lots of cuties usually are there. Hmmmmm.....
I will volunteer myself to taste test....send all cakes, cookies etc to me at... 
I'm a hobbiest and I'm continually on a diet, so I always send practice cakes to my DH's work with a tupperware container for him to bring a slice home for my DD. She gets upset if she doesn't get a piece and I can't send a cake with a slice taken out.
