I'm rather new to this cake decorating lark, and as I've been gathering equipment, it's being stowed away in a shopping bag, and an ice-cream container, and a cake tin...... it's total chaos!! I was thinking of buying a fishing tackle box to put it all in.

Does anyone else have any better ideas? How do you store YOUR stuff? I can imagine that many people here have enough for entire shelving units!!

I've seen specially designed containers which look similar to tackle boxes on some websites, but with the exchange rate I can't afford it.

At first i stored all my stuff in an old Tool box (very similar to a fishing tackle box) but then, i got to much stuff for it lol! I bought my self some simple storage boxes, like shelves for about £15 each, I got 4 BIG draws, 3 medium draws, and a set of draws with 8 thin draws which are excellent for storing all my colours and brushes and things, I keep these in my kitchen so they are each for me to reach when im caking icon_smile.gif

Hi, I have 2 tool boxes one full of colours and dusts the other full of tools I use all the time. I also have big plastic storage boxes with lids, one full of ribbon and "bits" another full of my cutters and embossers all sets induvidually bagged in zippy bags. I have my tins in another box. Another with boxes and boards. I have all these boxes on a plastic shelving unit. I think it is supposed to be for a greenhouse or something but it is perfect. I have probably forgotten something I have taken over the utility room with my cake stuff. Those wheely drawers look perfect I think I may have to nip to my local wilkies on lunch see if they have any in stock!

Large tool/tackle box from Home Depot is the best! I keep a smaller rubbermaid for an emergency kit when I deliver a cake (filled with a small amt of fondant from making the cake, and royal icing, anything I might need to repair any travel induced damage)

I have Sterilite modules from Target. Looks like the link below but not necessarily those sizes together. It's working so far. They sit under our computer desk in the kitchen so easy to get to when doing stuff. I like them because they are really sturdy.

Anyone have suggestions for Wilton Character Pans? I don't really use them but can't bear to part with them. I have about 239 of them taking up space.

I'm a bit aynal(spelling?) about my cake stuff my hubby says icon_biggrin.gif and I have to admit that I am. I have 2 metal 4 tier shelving units and on those is where I stack everything I need. I have plastic containers of different sizes for everything. Example 1 box for flower cutters, 1 box for stencils and so on and so. Everything labelled of course. icon_redface.gif I have 1 big plastic tub with all my character pans ( I can't part with mine either).

I use the following from the Container Store to store my caking stuff in. I have two of them on wheels, one is narrow and the other one wide.
