How Do I Make Multi Colored Fondant Leaves????

I was asked to make a cake for a friend. She wants it in the fall theme, something elegant and simple. I want to make fall leaves out of fondant, but I am not sure how to get the leaves to have the "multi-color" look. I don't want them to be just red, then ones that are just orange, etc. I want them to look real, like red leaves with hints of yellow in it. Any advice would be great!!! Thank you!!!!!
I do not have the equipment nor the skill to air brush so I would marbelize or fleck/streak in the autumn colours. I have done this for white flecked calla lily leaves and they looked great. Also remember there is never a perfect flower in nature so therefore the same should be said for leaves. Sounds like fun to me; hope you are having fun with it!
petal dust/powder works excellent for shading and would be great to create the different colours of fall. allows you to go as light or as dark as you want...
Petal and luster dusts in several colors.. You could marble your fondant to start if you want, or use solid colors to cut out the leaves.. It's fun to see what you can create.. here is one I did... hth http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1286747.html
Thank you so much everyone!!!! I do not have the equipment to airbrush so I think I will try marbling my fondant and the luster dust!!!! Poohsmomma and CakesbyLJ your leaves both look amazing....hopefully mine will turn out as well!!!
I cut some leaves out of yellow fondant and colored them with luster dust for a fall cake. I steamed the leaves to set the luster dust.
Pretty simple, and I thought they turned out pretty well.
How did you get the veins so nice???? these are amazing.
mareg,
Thanks for the nice words.
I used some vodka with the color for the veins. Made it very thin and painted it on very sparingly.
