Im making a Lemon Cake with cupcakes. Id like to do just a swirl of Lemon Icing on the cupcakes. Do any of you have any tried and true recipes for a delicious, thick, fluffly Lemon frosting? Something tart and not overly sweet. Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks in advance!

I just made lemon buttercream for a cake this past weekend. I used sugarshacks recipe for buttercream and added the zest of 2 lemons and used frozen lemonaid for the liquid and it came out so good. I was eating it by the spoonful. HTH

My "secret" weapon is lemon curd buttercream. You can buy or make the lemon curd but it's basically 2 parts BC to 1 part lemon curd. I usually make it for fillings so it's 1 cup lemoncurd to 2 cups buttercream. So good you'll have to keep your fingers out of the bowl!LOL!

I'm not a fan of buttercream at all. I always use fresh whipping cream for my cupcakes. I recently made some almond cupcakes and topped them off with lemon whipping cream. It's really simple! Start off by whipping up some cream, once it's starting to form, add some powdered sugar and at the end add some fresh lemon juice. It turned out to taste absolutely delicious!
