I'm making a Dallas Cowboys-themed cake for a co-worker's birthday tomorrow. I got a bottle of Americolor navy blue coloring to color my icing. However, it's not really coming out Navy....it's some odd shade that I'm currently referring to as barf blue. I've used probably close to 1/2 the bottle already, and added some black trying to darken it as well. Do I need to use more of the Navy Blue coloring? Or ?? How do you all get your gorgeous Navy blues??

I was going to say maybe let it sit overnight to deepen the color & see what you think in the morning?

In the templates section there is a color chart of what colors to mix to get other colors. Most of them are in spanish, but I can figure out what they are saying. And they suggest equal parts sky blue and violet. However, Ski may just have apoint with adding the black to it to get it darker. You may want to just try the sky and the violet first to see if that is the color you are looking for, if not, go ahead and add the black. At that point what have you got to lose?? HTH

i had the same thing...you have to keep going. I got the small bottles and had to use 2.5 in order to get the color i wanted and then added little drops of black along the way. Also, you do have to let Americolor sit for at least an hour to see the true color.

Keep going! you need a lot of color for Navy Blue thumbs_up.gif
