I just made a simple double layer 8" round cake covered in BC. The top layer had a small crack at the edge of the cake before i covered it, but nothing that i couldnt fill and cover. As I kept decorating I kept noticing waves and dips appearing in the icing. Tried filling a dip with icing....just kept working. Now the crack is spanning the whole cake and now going down the side. Customer is supposed to pick up the cake tomorrow. The cake is actually pretty cute and it is for a good friend of mine so I told her absolutely no money! My fear is that in the night, part of the cake is going to fall off or the crack is gonna look like the grand canyon! I have to work tomorrow, so no time to rebake and start over! any suggestions! About to upload pics of the cake! how can i salvage this cake!
Here are the pics of the cake....and the crack is even worse now than you see in the pics! HELP URGENT!
