OOPS!
I wasn't thinking and I bought the square Wilton Performance pans (with the rounded edges), before I realized that I should have bought the SHARP-edged pans. I was just so excited to get the square ones that I didn't notice the edges!

My question is, have any of you ever USED the Performance pans for a stacked square wedding cake? Does it end up looking square enough? I will be covering a 5-tier square cake with fondant. I just can't visualize it stacked. Will the rounded edges slope down? If you can post or direct me to a picture where these pans have been used, maybe I'll be able to make a better decision.

Thank you so much!!!

Haven't done one with the whole set, just used a couple of them. Actually though, most folks do use these for the stacked present cakes and they look fine. Other than a slightly rounded corner, they don't slope funny or anything. They don't flare out any differently than any other Wilton pan. I find they look really nice, so stop worrying, haha!

Thanks SquirrellyCakes, for easing my mind on it! I read a couple of posts where everyone was saying the performance ones were bad - although I know they are cheaper and won't last as long, maybe they'll do for now. I guess I just want everything to be perfect for the wedding, you know?

Thanks!!

Well, they aren't bad. I think that if you are looking for really square edged pans, then they won't be your cup of tea. They are not as good a quality or weight of aluminum as say, the Decorator Preferred or the Magic Line, but that doesn't mean they won't do the job. At one time that was the weight of all of the pans that we had available to us. So they may dent a little easier, but heavens, you will have them for many years, that is for sure! They are about the same weight as any of the character pans that are out there. A lot of folks prefer the rounded edge when they are covering with fondant. Besides, if you want a straight edge you can cut the edges straight or you can ice them and build up the icing so they look straight.
Your cake is going to be terrific!
