I often get asked this question and since I don't have one, I am not much help. I am considering buying one.
I know that some folks use a regular one and others buy one specifially recommended for cake decorating.
I have heard some horror stories about some that don't come with the compressor, or not being compatible with compressors or limited in the attachments you can use with them.
So which ones would you recommend, where can you get them, are they available in Canada or online in the U.S. and approximately how much would they cost?
Thanks,
Hugs Squirrelly Cakes

I have a basic model Kopykake airbrush that I love. Every time I use it I stand back and give a little "Haha, I'm awesome!" to myself! They can be a little pricey, a couple hundred U.S., but worth it. Some cake stores sell them or can order them for you, you can buy it from the Kopykake website, or check ebay, there are always a couple on there, but the bids go up like crazy - almost worth springing for a brand new one from the company itself. You have to use the special airbrush food colors and definitely need the cleaner - do not skip the cleaner (or you'll be very, very sorry). Good luck! Like I said, mine is just the basic, cheapest model and I have great control with it.

Hi TinaRe,

I live on the Eastern Shore about 1 1/2 hrs. from Norfolk/Va Beach, have to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to get there.

I learned in nail school. Would you believe the first day of airbrushing, I feel asleep. But the next day I was wide awake and instantly fell in love with it.

crimsonhair,

Did you get to see the house that Blanche from the Golden Girls own on Chincoteague? I go over there for their community yard sales every year but have not been to her home to look...famous people don't impress me.

Believe it or not Diana Ross brought property here about 16 yrs. ago. I don't know whether she still owns it or not...not interested.

Did you get to eat @ Don's seafood? They have some good seafood.

No I don't think we saw her house but we did tour all around the island ..We also had a tour of NASA as our freind works there and her hubby is a commercial fisherman and he took us to all the places where he sells his fish.. One restaurant was an old house turned into a restaurant and the food was delish.. I can't remember the name of it ..I will have to email them and ask them what the names of the places were.. I hope to get back down there sometime.. We go to Florida for the winter and last yr as I mentioned stopped in Norfolk.. Parksley was a bit of a detour for us but maybe this yr we will try to stop in there either on the way down or when we come back.. Our 2 kitties aren't good travelers so we will be trying to make it as fast a trip as possible..

Stephanie214, well not as close as I thought! Are you entered for the state fair this year? and are you going to it?
We are gearing up for all of the evacuees here today and this weekend. We aren't sure when they will get here. I am going to the classes to learn how to process the families and register them with the different agencies. I can't wait to help! I am so excited that I am getting the chance to maybe make a difference in these peoples lives. I wanted so bad to go and help in the gulf but now they are coming to us! Sorry bit off the subject!!

My friend has an Americolor airbrush system. She loves it! She got it from the ICES convention in New Olreans in July. One of the venders sold her the one he uses to demonstrate with. I've played with it & it's sooo cool!! I want one some day.

You guys stop talking about Virginia!! I miss it so much!!!! Our daughter was born at Langley AFB. We were there for 4 years. I miss the beautiful fall colors & the cooler weather BIG time!! I love Va.

TinaRe,

I've never been to the fair...always wanted to go.

May God be with you and the families. My sister from Houston told me about this lady who opened up her one bedroom apt. to 18 people.

Times like this, it is wonderful that everyone can come together in some way to help each other.

We are trully blessed here on the E.S...we only get the occassional Hurricane and mild snow weather. It seems that every seven or eight years we get a blizzard.

Take care of yourself and be safe.

tcturtleshell, you have to pay us a visit.
