I need to make this icing for a German Chocolate cake but I don't want to use eggs. All the recipes I have found call for egg yolks. Any ideas or does anyone have a great eggless recipe for this icing?

I don't know, the egg is what thickens the icing. Try googling it, there may be a vegan recipe out there without eggs.

I went ahead and cooked my icing in the microwave. I don't have a stovetop to cook on is why I didn't want to use eggs. Thanks for the input KansasLaura.

Ohhh!! I thought there was a dietary issue with the eggs. I've made that in the microwave before and it works great! Yep, you gotta cook that to get the eggs to thicken. Glad you worked it out.
