I am making a sea themed cake and am using wilton candy melts and the candy mold tray.

I have never used candy melts before and I had a few questions.

The candy turned out fine however when I took the hardened candy out of the tray, as soon as my fingers touched them, they would start to melt. I can't handle them at all without them melting and smudging. Is this normal?

Do they need to be kept in the fridge? Should I be able to handle them without them melting in my fingers?

Thanks so much for any info you can provide!

I made a baby bottle out of the candy melts and had the same problem....I was told cotton gloves would help. And handle them as little as possible - the bottle was several different colors so I had to handle it but if you are doing something single color, you can just turn it out on parchment and then only touch it to place it on the cake....sorry, I know that's not the most info, but HTH...

Did you cool/harden the candy in the frig or fzr? If so, the temp change is causing the problem. Let them come to room temp before handling.
If you hardened them at room temp, then using gloves as mentioned above is the answer.
Most likely this is only going to be a problem in this summer heat/humidity.
