I am looking for a new vehicle and would love to make my cake deliveries easier-I am tired of trying to even up my back seat! I know a hatch back style is great but would love to hear your recommendations. Thanks

If you're not looking for anything too expensive we have a Dodge Grand Caravan which I absolutely love! It has stow-n-go seats so all the seats fold down into the floor. This allows for you to have all the cakes on the floor and you can load the cakes into the back or from both side doors. Good luck!

I have a honda element. It's perfect for cake delivery. The back seats can either fold up or be removed entirely. The floor is plasitc, so it's easy to clean if you have an icing spill or something like that on it. They aren't TOO exepensive either, especially if you got a previously owned one. I think new they run about 20k.

I have both a Toyota RAV4 and a Honda CR-V. Both are great.

I bought a Ford Escape a few years before I started doing cakes but I have found it to be a GREAT CAR for deliveries.

my hubb came home a few months ago with a brand new kia borrego, and it's great. Has a 3rd rom seat that folds down flat, and the 2nd row seat does to as well!!! i has an expedition and loved it too, there is enough room to transport very large wedding cakes especially if the are all boxed.

i also use the no skid stuff (shelf liner), my son saw the large pieces to put under rugs and grabbed it for me (4' x 6') i roll it up and keep it in the storage compartment (in the back floor) along with my basic tool kit to always have on hand (spatula, extra bags, a few tips, scissors, skewers, etc).

I think I want a Kia Sedona like my niece just got all the seats do the stow and go into the floor really flat.

I think anything with a hatch back and large area.

I have a Honda Pilot and love it for deliveries. The 3rd row ofseats has never seen the light of day. So it lays flat giving you a huge area in the back for stuff. It also has a custom fitting cargo mat for the back with the 3rd row down. So this is perfect, it's a custom fit hard plastic piece that won't slide around. I put a none slip mat on top of that and we are good to go

I have a Jeep Liberty and I LOVE IT!!!
I took a 4 tier cake all stacked and drove 1 1/2 hour and it didn't even move
oh..I do have a Honda Civic Coupe (2 door) I've taken MANY MANY 3 tier cakes in it too,before I had the Jeep! worked fine
Now if you wanna talk about gas mileage etc...I'd consider (well actually I AM considering Chevy Equinox 2010)

Well I wouldn't recommend it, LOL, but I delivered two cakes, one 2 tier and one 3d cake to a friend a few weeks ago in my Mini Copper. The back seats fold down perfectly flat and it worked great! It was my first ever delivery because I just bake for friends, but we made it!

those of ya'll who have 3rd row stow and go seats.... How's you ac in the back? My mom has 2 (OLD vans no stow and go) one has incredible AC in the back the other not so great in the way back. Obviously in the south with cakes I want rockin' ac in the way back!

MY Toyota FJ Cruiser completely level in the back with a four foot square cargo area and the ac is ice cold.

I own a Chrysler Aspen and it's great! It has that extra third row and all the seats fold flat. Even with the third row up there's enough space for a cake. I got min in 2008 for under 20,000 and it was a 2008 model

I currently have a Nissan Murano, which has a large storage area behind the back seat(which also fold completely flat), rear vents for air conditioning. It delivers an extremely smooth ride.

we just traded our SUV (rode too much like a truck) for a Dodge Grand Caravan. LOVE IT!! It has rear AC which is so cold that it actually makes my cake plateaus a little frosty looking! Now, this is a strictly business only vehicle, but I do keep the second row of seats in just for a divider. I can still fit a ton of cakes in there.

Have an Acura MDX, its great, really flat when you fold the seats down, climate control in the back, so you don't have to freeze in the front, can adjust the air conditioning to blow from the back.

So far, everyone has listed what I'd call a "family car", but to me, hands down, nothing is better than a regular delivery cargo van! Nothing but flat space, tall ceiling height, easy access at the side AND rear, and no seats to have to screw around with.

i have an 07 dodge caliber. that ive used for all my deliveries. plastic flooring in the back and i got it for 15k which makes it great for cakes and afforable.

Well, I never rode back there!

I rarely ran my A/C. I'm not one who runs the vehicle with the A/C on high for 20 minutes before loading a cake. I don't need the vehicle to be ice cold just to deliver a cake. Most of the time, the back end was loaded with catering equipment and HOT food that added to the temp.

When I did run the A/C, it was just to keep the driver cool, not to keep the cake cool. Since my icing holds up, the temp in the back of the van was just never a consideration. Yes the cold air did circulate back there but it was never a big deal one way or the other.
