Have some fondant issues I need help with.
Stripes...how are they applied straight and without distorting from handling?
When I have to adhere a fondant decoration (I brush with water) to the cake, I can't really adjust it because the color from the decoration leaves a mark on the fondant. Can this be prevented?
Any tips for evenly spacing decorations...do you make a mark on the cake?
THANKS!

I'm gonna give you a bump but I don't think I can really help. Placing fondant decorations just has to be done carefully. Can you mark the fondant then place the decoration over it...sorta...depends on how thick your decoration is and if the mark will show thru it. Straight lines are pretty hard too so the only tip I can give you is to let the fondant strip dry up for a bit so it's less prone to stretching and distorting but even that's not a guarentee. Hope someone has some sure fire tips for you.

I've had the worst experience with this one but the best lesson learned!
So.. with stripes depending on the length & width its best to handle its from the top and work your way down. Using a straight edge & the stencil you used to cut out the stripes, just make a shallow dent as a guide line adhering the stripe to the cake.
In my past experiences.. allowing them to dry any bit causes tears and rips when molding it to the cake's curves but everyone's working conditions & techniques are different! I wish ya the best :]
