I tried wax paper once as an experiment and it worked ok but I had to use pieces that were smaller than paper towels.. It was not as nice as viva but I hope this helps. Dont forget to let the icing set, I get impatient and forget sometimes icon_smile.gif

darkred--- this might help --- I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard several people talk about what a great technique it is! Evidently fairly easy to do also.

darkred,

I have used parchment paper and Viva paper towel and I find them to be very comparable.

There was another post a while back where someone else had the same problem. They used those blue paper towels for mechanics. They are extra thick and have no pattern on them. You may be able to find them in an auto parts store.

I too use the work paper towels. I get mine at home depot or lowes.

you can also use a regular towel.. I think they are also considered "shop towels".. The red ones.. They have no lint and no design.. Perfect!! and they are re-usable VS disposable.. Good Luck!

You can also use computer paper on crusted buttercream. Makes it even smoother than Viva!
