I can't see myself spending that much on two machine one for cake and one for scrapbooking. So what machine should I get? I'm looking forward to do cake decorating, cutting fabric, vinyl, and scrapbooking.
Which one should I get? Does the Cricut CAKE cut vinyl and fabric?
Thanks
I don't really know if it would cut all those different things, but my understanding is that it should only be used for food stuff - food safety ya know.
You absolutely can get the Cricut cake and use it for scrapbooking BUT you have to get paper blades and paper mats to use with it and make sure you keep your machine clean. Only the blade touches the food so as long as you change out your blade and clean the housing each time and use cake mats for cake and paper mats for paper there will be no problems.

I saw a Martha Stewart version of Cricut Cake on HSN yesterday for $299 and free shipping. This one was white and not the dark red like the original. It also came with a program with many of her designs as well as some of the ones on the Elegant Cake cartridge.
I have asked the question about the cake machine being used for paper and I was told that the warranty is void and that using paper would get paper dust in your food. I agree the only thing that touches is the blade is the food or paper. I am not sure about the back area of the machine. I have one and need to look at it closer. They say the deep cutting blade won't fit the cake cricut. Is Provo Craft discouraging it or is it not a good idea to use paper in the Cake Cricut. They also mentioned the adhesive mats. I would like to hear more on this subject. You would have to make sure the machine is clean w/no grease to use on paper. I don't like the frosting sheets and they are very expennsive.
Thanks!
yes I can understand about the food safe. Yes will keep the machine clean before cutting anything.
If i'm cutting fondent I probably would only use it twice a year.
How easy would it be to switch the blades on cricut cake to cricut cut expression blades? Can it be done? Also on the roller, too?
Does anyone know of any tutortial, blog, youtube or anywhere on the net that can help us out?
Thanks

The rollers are different. The Cricut Expressions has roller pads spaced clear across the roller and the cricut cake has them on each end, so it would work better to use cricut cake than a cricut expressions for fondant ect. unless those are movable I know the deep cut blade doesn't fit the cake machine. The other paper blade I'm not sure. Has anyone tried this?
