Have you checked expiration dates on the cake mix, etc? That's my only thought.

Check your oven element, it could have stopped working properly. Mine did that, only got a wee bit of heat no matter how high I turned the dial. had to have the stoopid thing replaced.

Also.. not sure about your oven set up but I have a separate breaker besides the main panel downstairs as I have double wall ovens. The breaker is inside one of my lower kitchen cupboards. If I'm not careful how I put things away in that cupboard, I can easily hit the switch to off. Done that twice while baking. Not funny either, darn cakes deflated before I realized what was wrong.

Um, If you've got an older stove with a fuse box, it could be the fuse for the oven thats blown. That can happen anytime with fuses, maybe yours blew shortly after you put the cake in the oven?

Thats all I can think of that might be wrong other than what TNTFundraiser mentions. If you have good heat, did everything as usual, then it must be a problem with the mix..

Good luck, and so sorry thats happened.

yumcake06, do you have an oven thermometor? You can check your temp with that. Just turn it to 350 and see if it stays at that heat then you'll know if theres a problem with the element.

If you don't have one, you should pick one up. You can buy a pretty decent one for 5 or 6 bux, probably even cheaper if you're in the US.

What about a neighbour for todays cake? Maybe you could rebake there??
