Hi - I need a name. I am starting to get more orders, people want cards and I really need to market myself. So, can you help me out? I originally thought of Tapley's Treats but doesnt treats usually mean dog treats????
I make cakes, cupcakes, pretzels and molded candies
Here are some others
Sweet T's
Chonda's Confections
My name is Chonda pronounced with an SH for the CH.
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time!
Chonda
I dont have a new name for you but have a suggestion for anyone that is thinking about a company name. Say the name out loud about ten times real fast to see what it would sound like when answering the phone. In your example of Sweet T's I keep hearing Sweeties which sounds like a madam or something. I even tried adding Cakes to the end and it was even worse.
Also remember to search the name to make sure you are not taking a name that is registered.
Good Luck!
I really like Sweet T's !
Chondas bon bons!
Tapley's Sweetery
Taps Sweet Retreat
Chonda Cakes
I also really like Sweet T's, because it sounds like sweeties. If you go with something with your first name in it, be prepared for lots of mispronounciations, I wouldn't think that the 'Ch' is pronounced like 'Sh' if I just read the names somewhere.
If you do something with "Sugar," people might get the sh alliteration. Chonda's Sugar Shack, for example. But since your first name is unique, maybe you should stay away from it. Too difficult for people to remember the CH part, ya know.
Any names in your family history?
Mine is Mary Olive Sweets -- my grandmother was an awesome baker. Her mom, Mary Olive, died when she was a toddler and she always talked about her with such longing and admiration. I thought it would be an awesome way to honor my Grandma. She died a few years before I started baking, but she would have been beyond proud of the name & my baking.
Chondra's Sweets. Sometimes people remember a name BECAUSE it is unique. Congratulations on your growing business!!
There is nothing wrong with Tapley's Treats
as treats are not just a "dog" thing.
after all
you treat yourself to a day at the spa/beach/mall/ or a day off.
you treat yourself to an extra helping of ......
you give yourself a treat when you buy the dessert/dress/handbag/pair of shoes/manicure/....
consider how often you and others say "I'll just treat myself to...."
a treat is any small luxury we give ourselves or others--and the more we "shouldn't" do it but do it any way, the better it is.

I'd do something more generic, in case you ever sell the biz you can sell the goodwill the name has accrued. I like names that are local...like Main Street Bakery, Walnut Corner Cakes, etc...find out what the little niche names are in your town. People remember them too.
