What are your favorite tips for decorating cupcakes (both doing a swirl and making the top kin dof look smooth (like ice cream at DQ...ok, that's the best analogy I could come up with)? I'm doing my first cupcake order this weekend and the largest Wilton tips I have are the standard "star" tip that's mostly used for shell borders on cakes or the round open tip (I think it's tip #5).

What other Wilton ones are good, ie. larger opening, for cupcakes? Other brand suggestions are fine too...but Wilton is what I have access to for this weekend.

I'm pretty sure the one I use the most often for cupcakes is the Wilton 1M. It's a big open star tip, great for swirls.

On CupCake Wars, I've noticed a lot of people use a bag without a tip. Just the bag with an opening cut... It looks nice when they do it...

I like 1M but my favorite is the Wilton 1E/1G. I use a coupler if I want a smooth look.

I love the Wilton 1B(rose swirl a bit bigger than 1M) and 1A (smooth swirl DQ like) tips.
