1. What is the best way to stack my 10" double layer on top of the 14" layer. The picture in the directions shows it in hand already. Do I use something like a heavy spatula to lift up an edge under the cardboard? It seems impossible to stack it on the other cake without having to fix finger marks in the icing.

2. My MIL bought a tall skinny cake topper. It seems like it will fall over if I set it on top of the cake. Should I pipe a border around its edge to help secure it...or is there a better way?

Thanks!

i just hold one layer over the other and kind of drop it on top. As far as the cake topper, look at the underside of the topper. If there is a hole in it, run a dowel down into the cake that will help to stablize the topper. you can still use a boarder to help stablize it to. Remember if that topper is heavy it will need to be supported just like another cake layer.

If you go back out to the post in the "How Do I" forum and look for a very recent post titled "Trick to placing cakes on top of each other" you'll find some great ideas on how to place cakes that are of the "stacked" construction type. It gave me a couple great options. Good luck thumbs_up.gif
