EVERYONE is on a diet, and there's no one to eat my baked goods. I must bake, or I'll lose my mind.
Anyone else feel this way?

LOL - Thats how my wife's department at work is so I told her I probably wouldn't be making them a cake again. Lucky for me most of the people I work with don't mind a little cake every now and again.

while I was living in Pensacola, FL the cake decorating club I was involved with donated cakes to the Ronald McDonald House quite frequently. Maybe you could look into your local house or some other charity that would love you have your cakes!

ABSOLUTELY! It's like an uncontrollable urge to trash my kitchen icon_confused.gif . I heard it referred to as "stress baking" once, and I toally get it. Fortunately, I work for a very large corporation, so I can always take baked goods to work. Have you considered dropping something yummy off at your local firehouse or assisted-living center?

Right now, I'm staring at the leftover Fourth of July cake AND my parents' leftover anniversary cake. I could eat it all, but that would be piggish.
I LOVE when our son's friends come over. They're 19 and ALWAYS hungry. Too bad they have jobs that keep them busy during the week.

Those are great ideas! Why didn't I think of them?
Stress baking....When I was a child, my parents built our house. My poor mother was called upon to do all sorts of manual labor, in addition to cooking and making gallons of iced tea for all the people who helped with the construction. One day, Mom disappeared. She had had enough. In the midst of all the work and confusion, she went home to make grape jelly.
Ever since then, we have referred to stress management as "making jelly".

I agreed to my hubby's request that I only bake cakes that someone else will eat. No cakes sitting around for the two of us to eat too much of! Luckily he works in construction, and his coworkers will ALWAYS eat what I send in. Usually it is gone by 8:00 AM, and there are usually complaints that there is not enough cake.

I'm watching what I eat, as well as my parents. I know several people around me that are doing the 'diet' thing. It happens.

I'm lucky though, because I work in an office of guys, so anytime I feel like baking I just bring it into work, and the guys gooble it up. Win win for all of us. I get to bake, they get to eat.

You can always look around for other people to give cakes to like neighbors, espeically ones with kids. I know people say give it to the fire department or police department or nursing homes. Before I did that I would check with them. I can see in this day and age people being a little leary of a stranger wanting to drop a cake off out fo the blue.

I baked cakes and eventually gained to 220 pounds. I was on weight watchers and lost over 110 pounds. I don't bake anymore because I do not want to weigh that much again or have health issues. My coworkers are on diets or eating healthy. I bake only vegan cakes once in a while. I feel it is important to eat healthy and stay away from sugar and flour.

I assist at a friend's cake studio in NY working with gumpaste flowers for wedding cakes but do not eat cake. I still enjoy looking at cake books and websites but I don't bake.

I feel baking was a stress release for me but I now quilt so at least if I have food cravings I can't go into a sugar binge.

I was having the same problem but luckily I am a teacher so any time I feel inspired I can always take it in to school and the cake is usually gone before I send out the email. You could maybe meet with a principal and let them taste your cake and then work out a deal that you will bring in cakes and then just leave your card or something. . .

Congratulations on your success, bakescakes! Your willpower is admirable.

I just bake for fun, so I don't need advertising. I just need hungry people.
Right now I have the urge to bake chocolate chip cookies.........................but I won't, because no one will eat them.

I understand completely. Been trying to diet so all the baked goods I make must leave the house asap. Been giving them to coworkers, family, neighbors, maintenance deptartment in the building that I work... anyone and everyone. Nothing is quite so relaxing as plugging in the mp3 and baking.

Ditto on baking being a stress reliever, well at least most of the time. I am like texas sugar where I work in an office that is entirely men and construction worker types to boot and they are great at taking care of my baked goods so that I'm not still looking in the face of a triple chocolate monstrosity a week later.
I also want to give a thumbs up to the Ronald McDonald House idea. Here at work, I am on a little outreach committee and one of the things we do is provide dinner one night every other month to our local RMH. The few of us on our committee divide up the meal components and always serve a hearty, homemade dinner with all the fixins, drinks, dessert, etc. I say all of that to say this: I am sure if you called the local house, they would greatly appreciate a yummy homemade cake. The residents are provided dinner everynight but it's nice to have something to snack on during odd times. Those parents are in a very stressful situation and sometimes something as small as having a nice piece of cake back at the house at 2am is a welcome relief from the overbearing anxiety they are living. I didn't fully appreciate the RMH until my little one was born early but it's a wonderful place. Sorry to hijack a bit.

How about donating your baked goods to a local fire station or police precinct? I'm sure they'd love some yummy surprises now and then.

As someone mentioned earlier, facilities might be reluctant to accept food from a stranger. Who knows if the lady with the cake isn't deranged (maybe) and murderous?

That is awesome! I joined a month ago (32 days, to be exact!) and posted a 10.4 lb total loss by Day 26!
