Hi I have a cake to do with Purple swags. Can any one suggest a brand of color that I can use that will resist fading .. I need to be able to get a realy deep purple. ty

I would just purchase it already colored. Big PITA trying to get the color and purple fades into black fairly quickly. (sorry, never counted the days)

Also try to keep it away from direct sunlight and fluorescents. They will make your fondant colors fade.

I agree buy it pre-colored save you lots of work.

If you can find it pre-colored go for that and definitely keep it away from windows...

Satin Ice makes pre-colored purple. I've used it and I like it. It's a grapey purple and I'd think you could make it darker pretty easily.

Albert Uster (auiswiss.com) makes an amethyst Massa Grischuna fondant. It's more costly, but is really a premium product. This is a less intense color, but again, it can be colored darker.

I, too, find that pre-colored fondants don't fade much, if at all.

If you want to color your own, ChefMaster makes a No Fade Purple liquid color that also holds it's color when exposed to light.
