I'm doing this Martha Stewart wedding cake in September & was looking around online for a template or something for the piping on both tiers... any one know where I can find one or what I can do? Thanks!

I did a cake with the scroll design myself and I wasn't able to find the stencil either, I just did it free hand. Doesn't look as nice but I was able to get by...

oh BTW that looks like it was done free hand as well you can see the difference in the sizes of the scrolls where a stencil would be uniform....

I don't think that's a stencil. It looks like free hand piping to me. If you pay close attention to the scroll work thats done you can see where the artist has doubled the scroll almost like lamebth design. It is doubled in certain area's and not in others. The scroll work is hard to do uniformed, but the little flowers are easy once you get going. Give it few practice runs and do it. I'm sure it will trun out great!

I have done this cake - and we just freehanded it. slowly. just pick the design apart and it's not so bad.

Thanks guys - yes I did see that stencil after I posted this (duh, didn't look very well! lol). Unfortunately it's pretty expensive, as I doubt I'll have to use it again. Oh well... I guess we'll see what happens. Thanks!

If you don't want to spend the money on stencils (which I don't blame you)

You could:
1. Print out the scroll in the proper size for tiers and then use a scribe to copy onto fondant and then hand pipe.
2. Print 'stamp' page and then pipe the design (without being connected) onto acetate and then place on cake and hand pipe the connectors.

Hopefully that makes sense. It is a lot more work to do it this way than to purchase the stencils.

you could always resell the stencil if you don't think that you'll use it again. I love those scrolls!

If you look at the lattice part of the Martha cake, it is not the same as the stencil. the scroll is but not the lattice.

what a good idea about the resale of the stencil... I'd be interested in purchasing if you decide to buy and then sell....
