Can I use strawberry jello (powder) and mix it with my buttercream to make strawberry buttercream? I don't have any strawberry extract?

I've heard it (jello) gives a slightly chemical taste. I love using Smucker's strawberry syrup, like for pancakes, as buttercream flavor. Mixes in smoothly, no gritty texture, and is made from real fruit, it's so yummy! It comes in several flavors and I use it as filling all the time.

You can also add some seedeless strawberry jam.

I would think the jello powder would give it a gritty feeling when eaten.

I do not like using Jell-o. I did try it one time and it did give the BC a gritty texture and I never used it again. I never thought of using the Smucker's Strawberry Syrup - great idea. I have used strawberry jam and preserves and that works great.
