hello,

i need to make a fashion heel and i have tried twice using gumpaste (the powder mix by wilton) and both times my sole has cracked! what am i doing wrong? should i use the already mixed stuff? does that make a difference? should i use fondant? maybe my heel support is too high?

i have used the templates on here to cut the sole and shoe support and it still seems to be cracking???

please help.... what am i doing wrong? it's due on friday and i am strapped for time!

hello! I addressed the same issue just two weeks ago. I think the powder Wilton is the problem when it comes to making the sole. I used powder first because I had one on my shelves, but usually use the ready-made gumpaste by Wilton. Once I redid the sole in the premade, I had no issues with it wanting to crack. Also, don't roll too thin and allow it to dry on its form for a minimum of three days with a week being optimum.

HTH!
