LOL We have several animals in our house and even though I always wash my hands before handling food as I'm sure everyone else does (or hope they do) I would so get a big laugh out of this. Dogs will be dogs. LOL. My family would have no problems eating the non chomped parts.

same thing happened to me this past weekend, i made my first topsy turvey cake for my friends 2 year old, except it involved a rambunctios 3 year old (not my own, he knows better than to touch mommy's cakes lol) i had the cake all ready, on the table, i was getting ready, my sister comes by with her nephew, she turned around for a sec, and he took a big chunk (taking a support dowel) the cake toppled over, we tried to fix it, but i just barely made it to the party, i was soo devastated!!

First of all I have nothing to do with this cake. I didn't make it, I didn't buy it. I was just commenting on the OP.

My house is more than clean enough to satisfy a health inspection, just FYI. Been in the business way too long, you get in the habit, you know? tanstaafl, you need to read things more carefully and not jump to conclusions. My comment was simply to make light of the situation. No, I would not have a problem if the customer did not serve the one tier the dog got to and served the rest.

I guess I look around and see way bigger things to worry about. And just for the record, I don't want you to eat at my house either--I much prefer laid back fun people, not people who are going to judge and pick at things.

Sorry, I really didn't mean to offend anyone, and I wasn't trying to pick a fight. I just was surprised when you said that you would have turned the part that the dog had eaten to the back and served the rest of the cake. It's just not something that I would want to eat.

Animals - gotta love them. I have a 4 pound yorkie and when she hears the KA mixer - she comes to the edge of the kitchen as she knows exactly what I am doing. She has been ran out so many times, she stays a safe distance or she knows Mommy will yell at her - and oh no, possibly put up the dreaded puppy gate. But, when all is done and the counters are all clean again, she comes in to see if there may be a stray portion of icing that made it to the floor. If so, she laps it up and off she goes. Then out comes the mop and we start all over.

Fortunately, my 2 little mini schnauzers haven't realized they are able to jump up on furniture (I've always had schnauzers, and this is a first for me!). I used to have one that could jump really high. He developed the talent of jumping up and swiping his paws on the counter to grab whatever was there (quite a feat for an 17 lb dog!). Good thing I wasn't caking then, because he definitely would've gotten to the cake on the counter!
