Hi There!
I'm wondering how I can go about finding a cake mentor? LOL I have been officially been open for just about 1 year (just a cake studio-no store front) and I am finding that I have no one to talk cake with. I sit in a tiny one room bakery alone, well I have my NPR friends but they aren't too good at cake feedback. I come from a corporate background where I always had someone who could provide advice, support, critical feedback and just listen to me rant. Now that I am on my own I really don't have anyone and I am finding this hard. It's like I just someone I can call and BS cakes with. So, I am asking...do you have a mentor? How did you meet them? Will they adopt me too (j/k). Should I just get the kahunas and call people?

This sounds fun! My lab mate (I'm a scientist in my day life) listens to all my cake talk and has good advice. If I ever get to go pro I want her on as an artist or the one who deals with the people. But having a cake mentor locally- sounds AWESOME! Congrats to you! Down here in the south- we have good iced tea!

No shit! If I'd known it was that easy, I'd have hit her up long ago! I'm just west of Indianapolis and read every single thing IndyDebi posts just to feel close to her and her wisdom!

Isn't CakeCentral everyone's cake buddy? I mean you can come here day and night ask a question or just start a thread about most anything, and get all kinds of replies from all kinds of people. You can talk cake, cake, more cake and everything else inbetween.
Oh i love CC and it has been my cake buddy however it would be nice to get to know some people in my area that i can meet up with. Anyone in West Texas that wants to be my buddy? Indy we have great sweet tea down here!!!
