Cake Mentor??

Hi There!

I'm wondering how I can go about finding a cake mentor? LOL I have been officially been open for just about 1 year (just a cake studio-no store front) and I am finding that I have no one to talk cake with. I sit in a tiny one room bakery alone, well I have my NPR friends but they aren't too good at cake feedback. I come from a corporate background where I always had someone who could provide advice, support, critical feedback and just listen to me rant. Now that I am on my own I really don't have anyone and I am finding this hard. It's like I just someone I can call and BS cakes with. So, I am asking...do you have a mentor? How did you meet them? Will they adopt me too (j/k). Should I just get the kahunas and call people?

easier --

laptop on and open to cc at all times! just refresh oh every 5 minutes or so....

and then give IndyDebi a run for her money on posting.

Doug!! You know what? After I posted that I thought to myself..."Hey lady you are doing exactly what you need to do...CC is my cake mentor!!"

I do really need to utilize the PM more often...

This sounds fun! My lab mate (I'm a scientist in my day life) listens to all my cake talk and has good advice. If I ever get to go pro I want her on as an artist or the one who deals with the people. But having a cake mentor locally- sounds AWESOME! Congrats to you! Down here in the south- we have good iced tea!

No shit! If I'd known it was that easy, I'd have hit her up long ago! I'm just west of Indianapolis and read every single thing IndyDebi posts just to feel close to her and her wisdom!

Jenny and IndyDebi,

If you're open to it, I'd love to join your cake talk. I am in the Indy area also. I am just beginning my cake business. I have lots to learn and not many people to talk cake with. I stay home with three kiddos who don't have advice on that icon_biggrin.gif
