I was wondering the same thing! icon_smile.gif

I have a cricut but was thinking if I changed out the blades and mats then I might be good to go.

Also do you have to use their sheets or can your make your own?

I can't wait to see what is suggested!

you need to do a lil altering to the machine and I thinks the blades arent compatible...theres a dvd that shows you how.

the cricut cake is made just for the frosting sheets and gumpaste...and Ive used rice paper, so that means no stencils

Sorry, but I think you are wrong. There are many mediums, besides the ones you have listed, that can be cut with the cricut cake. The deep cut housing and blade from the expression will fit the cricut cake and I don't know why you can't cut stencils with it. Provocraft said you can cut paper with it so I don't know what difference it would make. I don't know why people answer post when it's clear they are just guessing.

The answer to both questions YES. However, the cake machine works much better with food items then any of the others (I have the expression and the cake).

tiggy2 - I hope you din't mind but I have a few more questions about either or both machines....

have you had success with (either machine) cutting thick things like cardstock or plastic? I saw vinyl sheets for the cricut at the craft store yesterday... have you ever use that?

Along with fondant, gumpaste, and frosting sheets, I've cut cookie dough also with my cricut cake.

You have to roll it pretty thin (a little over 1/8" thick)- but it came out better than I expected! Then stick it in the freezer to cut it. I live in AR and it is really hot here (103 the day I did it) so before I could get them off the mat, I stuck them back in the freezer. They baked up nice! On another thread, someone told us how to do it (can't remember who - sorry) but she posted pictures. Mine came out cute - but I didn't take pictures, so I will post the other thread when I can find it.

Ok - It is on page 10 - My success with the cricut cake pic and tips
