Hi everyone...
I am trying to make a shoebox cake for Friday.
The bottom box is 2 10 inch square cakes with a fondant lid...no problem.
The top box is a 6x12 rectangular box facing diagonally and I want to have the lid open with tissue and a shoe coming out. How do I get the lid to look like its open? Do I use a one layer cake and prop it?? I tried laying fondant over styrofoam last night and it didn't come out right.
Please help if anyone has done this!! Thanks in advance!
Amy

I think someone here suggested doing a box lid by rolling fondant/gumpaste? over the inverted cake pan to get the shape of the lid and letting it dry. Then you could prop it up with stuff underneath and tissue coming out.

Good Luck! I'd love to see pictures when you're done icon_smile.gif
