And.... I don't have my cake decorating supplies!!! We moved w/ only a few things, and the rest is in storage. I am starting to freak out, and it's only been 2 weeks. I actually dreamed I was making cakes last night and when I woke up and realized it was just a dream got so depressed!

I've been looking for a job of any kind and haven't found one yet either. I think the boredom/loneliness is making me miss caking even more.

I just needed to vent! Does anyone know of any good companies hiring near Clearwater?

Thanks!

Amber

Wow, it sounds like I'm reading about myself! LOL I just moved to the Tampa area myself. Been here only one week and I am feeling the same pain. Cake stuff in storage too! I am so depressed. Has it gotten any better for you out here?

Hello and welcome to the Sunshine State!!! I've been here for 12 years now. I cried the first three years because I hated it; but it did get better. I would never moved back unless I was forced to due to relocation for a job. There is so much to do here and hopefully you'll get your cake supplies and be back to baking before too long. Amber, what kind of work are you looking for?

Wow - I never got my forum reply notifications... just happened to check back.

Thanks for the encouragement! I am looking for evening shift work. Enchanted - my bakery in Michigan named similarly to yours. I think you and I have possibly even emailed in the past. Not sure, but your screen name definitely looks familiar.

For now, I did find a job waitressing starting at 4:30 p.m. 3 nights per week. Unfortunately, there isn't much business where I'm at, and I'm working basically to pay the babysitter. So I'm definitely still interested in finding something.

I worked with A Better Cheesecake for one day - just as a fill in, but she needs someone who can work days, which I really can't. I just kind of gave her my name in case she ever got into a bind, and she happened to call one day, and I was available to work that day.

Still depressed about the supplies being in Michigan, but I think I'm going to pay to have them shipped here this week. My birthday is coming up, and I am going to bake myself a cake in a Pyrex bowl, one of the few items I have with me! LOL Got a freezer full of Sweetex we brought along with us, and I'm just itching to use it!!!

Question for you both, if you could, do you know where I can buy cake decorating supplies near Clearwater? Thanks so much!!!

WELCOME TO TAMPA! Unfortunately I don't know of anything in Clearwater other than the crafts stores. Cakes Plus is in Tampa. D&G Occasions is in Orlando if you want to a day-trip. Online ordering is always the other option.

Hey Sugaredup; do you have a resume? My husband is friends with a caterer to one of the baseballs teams, I won't say which one here. Anyway, if you have a resume, maybe he could use some help on a per diam basis. Also, he told my DH, he knows of a bakery in Tampa somewhere that needs help on the weekends. (he was throwing it my way, but it just didn't work out for me at the time) He stated this baker has orders for cakes hand over fist. Of course, I don't know if that opening is still there, but it's worth the shot of looking into. Can you do weekends?
As far as supplies, I've been ordering on line also. Just not much around here in the way of buying. But I noticed the last time I was in Michael's, they have really brought in a lot more since Duff has started his line of products. The Michael's in St.Pete over by the Tyron Mall was stocked with a lot more pans than they use too. HTH's.
Maybe we could get together sometime when I'm in that area shopping...... I would have to have a fellow caker to chat w/, my friends are getting sick of hearing about all this sugar stuff...lol.
