I just received that adorable mold for a sleeping baby, but it doesn't come with instructions! For those of you who have used it, do you use fondant, gumpaste, or 50/50 gumpaste/fondant? Are there any instructions on how to use this adorable mold?
I use 50/50, colored with wiltons bronze (just the tiniest bit) and then stick it in the freezer for like 10 min or so and it pops right out. Just make sure you press the fondant in really well or you will have bubbles.
I have made this a few times and have also made one using all fondant and like mindy says just pop in freezer for 10 minutes and it comes out like a charm then I let dry. The baby is very durable just make sure you pack the fondant in nice and tight and clean the bottom before it dries too hard.
I've found that chocolate paste works the best. I smush it in there and then stick it in the freezer for a few minutes. I'm sure fondant would work too, I just haven't tried it yet.
I've made mine with 50/50 fondant gumpaste and gumpaste only. The gumpaste worked best for me. Like Cakeonista said be sure to pack the fondant/gumpaste nice and tight and clean the bottom before it dries.
I tint the fondant/gumpaste before putting into the mold. After the "baby" is dry I use a little brush and shadow the features with powder color.
I just got a baby mold too, i used this with fondant, gumpaste and 50/50 ( i swear i probably make like 10 molds the first day trying to get a perfect baby, but i got it down now!).
I think the gumpaste (which i tinted too, with a hint of warm brown) worked best. I did like the others and stuffed it really well, then set it in the freezer about 20 min or so : ) they are soo cute then they come out!
Just thought that I would let you know that there is an article printed in the articles section here on CC as well. I used gumpaste and the freezer as well.
Speaking of sections....CAn anyone answer this question? When I go to the most save cakes. And I clik on the right side to get the pictures to go to the left. Some times the same pictures pop up several times as I clik through the gallery.
Is there any quicker way to scan the pictures? Instead of a clik only moving a couple of pictures.?
If you have an answer please post it.
Before the new format I could look through the whole group of pictures a lot faster... Am I doing something wrong?
?
Does the baby get sticky when it comes out of the freezer? And if so, how long before you can put dust on etc.

I use Merckens candy coating and it works very well.
Do you just treat it like a candy mold and pour in the hot chocolate
Pour it in and let it set in the refrigerator or freezer. Be gentle loosening the mold from the chocolate. It works beautifully.

I love his little tush...
I use fondant/tylose mixture & make absolutely sure your paste is absolutely smooth & not too big.
