Does anyone have a good chocolate icing recipe that is not buttercream? Any suggestions? TIA MC

How about:
Chocolate Sour Cream Frosting
1 12-oz package of semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 to 1 cup heavy sour cream
1# 10x sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Melt chocolate and pour into a mixing bowl, add 1/3 sugar and beating until blended. Alternately add remaining sugar and sour cream, blending until smooth. Add vanilla. Yield: frosting for two 9' rounds
I never tried it but it sounds good. It is on the back of the Domino 10x Sugar (2#) bag

I'll side with peg818, chocolate ganache is SO good and very easy. And you can use milk chocolate, dark choc, semi sweet, whatever! Look on www.baking911.com in the cake section for some good recipes and tips! They also have a chocolate ganache buttercream that doesn't taste like buttercream but it's firmer so you can pipe it.
