I need to make a french vanilla cake and was hoping to use the WASC recipe. Anyone use it for french vanilla?

Just make a three tier cake using the Dunkin Hines French Vanilla. Follow the same WASC recipe but omitted the almond extract, I used all vanilla

McCormick makes a french vanilla extract; bought some at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago. I would use a regular white mix and use the french vanilla flavoring, omit the almond.

For French vanilla I do the same as the original wasc but omit the almond and I put French vanilla pudding in mine.

So the only thing you omit is the almond? You just add the vanilla pudding mix straight to the mix?

I don't use anything but a french vanilla cake mix when I make a WASC cake. Love the flavor. thumbs_up.gif

when you add the french vanilla pudding do you reduce the flour/sugar and use that in its place or just add it in without changing anything else?

Also, has anyone ever tried it adding the powdered french vanilla coffee creamer? Was considering using that just because i have some on hand and DD just informed me this morning (the morning that i was planning to bake her cake) that she wants french vanilla for her bday on friday.

Haven't used powdered creamer but I have used liquid french vanilla coffee creamer in place of some of the milk. I also use DH french vanilla mix as my basic WASC.

Ditto that!

Also, you can flavor your buttercream with French Vanilla Coffee syrup instead of regular vanilla. I do this every time to my all butter recipe. Everyone LOVES the icing because it has such a distinct flavor with that Da Vinci sugar free French Vanilla Coffee syrup. It's in a wine sized bottle for under $10.

Even though it's not clear, you can whiten your final batch with Wilton's White-White if need snow white.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! They all sound great. I went ahead and used what I had on hand. I went with the DH french vanilla cake mix. I used about 1/8 cup of liquid french vanilla coffee creamer and the other 7/8 was water. It turned out great! Delicious! Thanks for all of you help!

I actually went a bit stronger and added 1/4 of a cup of liquid French Vanilla creamer and 3/4 of a cup and it turned out absolutley delicious. Also used 1/2 creamer 1/2 milk with Indydebi's buttercream recipe and DD liked it way better then the plain stuff she said. Can't wait to taste it all together with the oreo cookie filling with the marshmellow fluff in it. Sorry, escapes me right now whose recipe that was. DD special request. LOVES OREOS.
