ANYONE HEAR FROM OUR WET FRIENDS???? - Page 2

Hello Everyone,

I am so very saddened and Sorry for all of you that are either In Ms or La or in surronding areas or have family, friends & loved ones there or even still in the areas, I personally am from Gulfport,Ms and have a Lot of Family & Friends and Loved ones there. My Hubby and I moved to north Ms a few years ago and the Loss and devastation is still all too much for my heart to take.I still can not get in touch with ANY of my family and am like so many of you just worried sick, watching everything you can on Tv to see what is new and Hoping and Praying for a Miracal for all. I hung on to every word of Jim Cantore because he was my only link to my family.
I have found some links that one promises to list Names of people that he has come into contact with to let their families know they are all right. and you can also be updated by him and the local Newspaper and Tv station. here they are . GOD Bless Everyone and My Thoughts and Prayers are with you all.

I just noticed on Wlox there is a link to click on to Locate Family & Friends. it says its Slow due to all the traffic.

You are wonderful to provide those links-I know ALOT of people will be sending them to friends who have family and friends in that area-I am starting up a fundraiser at work for the victims-we are not near them but the devastation is touching everyone and they so very much need all the help they can possibly get. If anyone else wants to do that all they have to do is contact the Red Cross in their area-they have all the info. I know a blood drive is a good thing too. I just hope the banks and bill collectors take into account that the people have truly lost everything and alot of debts will be forgiven so they can start all over again without any more difficulties than they are already going to have. These allmighty money companies have to have some compassion somewhere and must be willing to do what they can to help out. If anyone has any pull anywhere-maybe you can put in words.

I've been reading about the hurricane Katrina. I maybe far away from where it happened but I feel for all the victims. We experienced a lot of storms and floods here that is why I know what they are going through right now. I just hope everything will be ok. They are always in my thoughts and in my prayers.

As they say-every little bit helps and it sure does add up! Prayers are wonderful things and everyone not "involved" in the destruction has so much to be thankful for-it will be nice for all to share.

Has anyone heard from Melissablack, i've been watching the hurricane posts and i'm a bit concerned for her and her family.
I am grateful to hear from those of you near the destruction. I hope that Melissa and others find a way to let us know that they are ok, although I'm sure they have more important tasks at hand right now. I continue to pray for all of those involved!!!

Cheryl, God bless you for helping those in their darkest hours. I'm sure you are truly the closest thing to an Angel of God that many of them has ever seen. I am praying for you to continue to find strength and energy when you are sure you have none left.

All, just a quick note to let everyone know I'm ok. We evacuated to Baton Rouge (really not very far from where I live - about 45 minutes from New Orleans). We were at my Mom's house through the storm. My Dad and other family members had been calling constantly Saturday wanting me to leave and come up to Monroe, or anywhere else, but I just couldn't. My husband and I both work for Cingular and we are both needed for disaster relief. My house was virtually unscathed although my immature trees have seen better days. I've been busy helping other people clean yards and retrieve ice. Work is pretty much non-existent right now as the power outages have left most of the cell sites down and I can't get onto our network at my office.

I am planning to make a bunch of cakes to deliver to shelters and to one of my neighbors who has 40 people (no joke) staying in his house. They are originally from New Orleans and had to flee the madness. I know it's not much to do, but it'll make me feel better. I need to do something. I feel like I'm suffering from PTSD (or maybe I'm just in the twilight zone). I have a lot of friends and co-workers from New Orleans and the north shore (Covington and Mandeville areas) and some are missing. Our New Orleans office is right at the Causeway (long bridge that crosses the Ponchartrain). It is close to the canal levee breach that is flooding the city.

Thousands of refugees are being shipped very close to my house (within 5 miles) and I'm a nervous wreck that those fools that are wreaking all the havoc in New Orleans are going to end up around here in my sleepy little town. I'm having to watch my kids and my house like a hawk. I'm just a nervous wreck. (Can you tell????) The enormity of this whole situation is making me crazy and I think it's going to get much, much worse before it's all over.

I always felt so helpless during natural disasters like the 9/11, the Tsunami, Okla City Boming. I never could do anything to help. Well, I'm in the thick of it now and I want to do what I can to try and help these people.

Well, I'm rambling, I know. Guess I just needed someone to "talk" to. Thanks. I'll be out of pocket a lot over the next few weeks or so. I'll check in as often as I can.

Take Care,

Roxanne

Roxanne, I have been worried sick!!!! THANK GOD YOU & YOUR FAMILY ARE OK!! Come on up to Monroe you will have plenty to do up here too & it's so much safer. I'm also worried about all the people in NO being sent up here. Just the ones that are causing all the problems. We do not need that. I'm sure others in NO & the surrounding areas are worried about that to. You take care & Bless you for wanting to stay & help out!!!!
