I want to make a round gift box cake and I want to make the top lid in one piece by rolling and cutting a round shape fondant and cover the top with it. but I don't know how to trim it so it would be straight and neat. I have seen sharon's dvd for the round gift box cake where she rolls a strip of fondant for the side of the lid. I wonder if anyone has done this without the rolled strip of fondant or how to trim the lid neatly. Help thanks
charmed, doo you have my boxes dvd?, if you do not want to do it with the strip, use the same method I showed on the baby shower cake... the nautical one... you can use that technique on round cakes too.....
Sharon I have all your DVDs... including the boxes and bows...I know how you do using the ruler and cutting around the lid I thought it would be difficult to do it on a round cake since it is curved.
it is a bit more difficult, but can be done. the other option is to place someting on the board the height you want, like a jello box... and cut along the top of that.....
