I want to make a round gift box cake and I want to make the top lid in one piece by rolling and cutting a round shape fondant and cover the top with it. but I don't know how to trim it so it would be straight and neat. I have seen sharon's dvd for the round gift box cake where she rolls a strip of fondant for the side of the lid. I wonder if anyone has done this without the rolled strip of fondant or how to trim the lid neatly. Help icon_biggrin.gif thanks

charmed, doo you have my boxes dvd?, if you do not want to do it with the strip, use the same method I showed on the baby shower cake... the nautical one... you can use that technique on round cakes too.....

Sharon I have all your DVDs... including the boxes and bows...I know how you do using the ruler and cutting around the lid I thought it would be difficult to do it on a round cake since it is curved.

it is a bit more difficult, but can be done. the other option is to place someting on the board the height you want, like a jello box... and cut along the top of that.....
