I have seen some really beautiful barrel cakes and have a few questions on how to assemble. Do the Kit Kat bars needs to be divided individual or leave whole, are they suppose to be taller than the cake, and last with the strawberries how do you or what do you use to glaze them. Those cakes are beautiful. thank you Love love this site

For my barrel cake, I separated all the kit kats so they sat even. I made them taller than the cake to help hold the candy. As far as strawberries, I know some people use apricot glaze (or heated apricot jam) to glaze them. icon_smile.gif

Can't answer the strawberry question but yes, whether you use cookies or kitkats they need to be seperate (too hard to place neatly if they are together...you end up with an angled cake, not a round one) and you want them just a bit higher than the cake, altho the cake can have a rounded top (no trimming or leveling! Whoo hoo!) to help fill up the candy area, makes the barrel look more full.
