I have been buying the Wilton disposable decorating bags at Michaels for over 3 years and have had no problems with them. 2 weeks ago I had to go buy some and they have Celebrate It now...they don't have the Wilton bags anymore at all.

Anyway...these are the WORST bags ever!!! The coupler keeps popping out. I am not exaggerating when I say I have had this happen about 20 times in the past 2 weeks! What a complete waste of money.

Is this happening to anyone else??? Please tell me it is because I would hate to think I forgot how to properly put a coupler in after doing this continuously for over 3 years!! I have to find the Wilton bags again!!!

I had the same problem with the Michaels brand of the bags I got a month ago. The coupler would not stay in and then every side of them would just rip apart. So I thought well I will try again and bought the same kind and they did the same exact thing. I will never buy them again!

I have fortunately not tried those disposable bags, thanks for the notice, but if you are looking for the wilton bags, I always get mine at HobbyLobby, and with the 40% coupon you get online you get yourself a bargain!!!

Walmart still carries Wilton bags.

If you are like me and you have accumulated a small army of disposable bags that aren't fit to hold kittie litter. I have a small solution to the problem that will keep you from having to toss them.

I save my good bags for my "real" cakes and the practice cakes get the kittie bags.

THE SOLUTION:

1. I skip the coupler and just drop the tip into the bag.

2. using the tip as a guide I snip the corner of the bag until 1/3 of the tip is through. I then push the tip down until it is very tight against the bag.

3. take a piece of scotch tape and wrap it along the seam of the cut and make sure you get half the tape on the tip, to prevent it from moving. then wrap it again.

bad thing is, you probably guessed this. no easy changing of tips. when done use scissors to snip the tip out of bag.

I had 200 bags and I was not throwing them out!! I got them for christmas last year.

I hate those bags also. My WMI told me that Wilton is phasing out a lot of its old stuff to make way for all the new items, which coincide with their overhaul of the Wilton courses. I took my classes at Michael's and have only noticed this at Michaels. In fact, I was in a Michael's yesterday (not the one where I took my classes) and the cake decorating aisle was nearly wiped clean b/c the store was in the process of putting all the new stuff out. I did see that AC Moore still has the Wilton bags. I can't imagine Wilton doing away with pipping bags altogether, so maybe the Celebrate crap bags will be gone soon. hth

Hi! I'm a Wilton instructor and I can tell you that they are NOT phasing out their disposable bags. The Celebrate brand (as an above poster said is a Michaels brand), and yes those bags have caused a lot of problems for my students.

So when you go to Ms and see the Wilton bags stock up since it seems that Michaels wants to sell their stuff. I went to get a pan last night and they had no Wiltons- I went somewhere else.

Joann Etc also has Wilton disposable bags. The Michael's where I take my decorating class still has the bags, too.

I use the Bakery Craft brand (get them at my local cake supply store) and they are better than wilton or any other brand that I've used.

YES YES YES! I have also had problems with these bags. I bought them because they were slightly cheaper than the Wilton bags but I will NEVER buy these again. I went through an entire box (12 bags) to make one cake (and the cake only used 3 different colors! The bags kept busting at the seam. I would start piping detail onto my cake and the bag would pop wide open. It was the most awful expirence I've ever had. I would pay double for Wilton bags if I had to. I've been trying to find some info on this company so I can contact them to let them know how awful the bags are and get a refund but there is no info on the box. I think I'm going to contact Michaels to see if they can help.

I recieved a newsletter from Joann's that they are going to start teaching the Wilton classes in my area. My local Joann store has expanded thier Cake decorating section and added a huge amount of Wilton products, while my local Michaels has all but obliterated the Wilton items and replaced them with thier "celebration" brand and the Duff stuff.

I am not impressed with any of this and even though I did not use a lot of Wilton items it was realy the only thing available locally to me. So ig uess I will have to order online or go to Joanns. It will actually work out great for me since I get all of my sewing items from joann anyways.

I think Michaels has made a big mistake !

I've discovered Hobby Lobby. I think I'm in love with the cake decorating section. Talk about a selection!

Oh, Michael's...you make me sad. You're the closest store to me, but if you don't have what I need/want, I'll go the extra distance.

Are they already cut at the tip? If they aren't just use them for cocoa cones.

I had problems with the dis bags and they were breaking at the seam. so I emailed wilton and they send me new ones.

I also had problems with those bags. It's such a waste since I bought the big box of them. It's so frustrating!!!

I purchased the bags and they are horrible! I miss the old bags. I will try to email Wilton about this. Five bags burst at the seams and it never happened with the Wilton brand bags .

i would take them back to the store to try and get a refund. thats the only way they will know the product is defective, and not fit for purpose.

I agree...take them back to the store and get a refund...even if you used some of them. The store won't get the message that they have an inferior product, unless people return them. Maybe it will also let them know to bring back the brands they used to carry!

I bought the bags and 1 out of 3 of those worthless bags would rupture while decorating a cake. I complained and wrote a lewtter to micahels and the response was "thank you for your concern, we will pass the information on to the buyers".
Pass it on all you want, I will buy my bags at Hobby Lobby from now on. And only Wilton bags. My husband threw the rest out and went to Walmart to get me some bags. He was tired of me whining about the bags. So next time i am buying wilton brand bags.
