On the Throwdown with Bobby Flay show they showed a cheesecake eposode. The other guy made a Devil Food Cheesecake cake. It was a round devils food cake cut in half and a cheesecake without the crust. they put the devils food cake down the fudge frosting then the cheesecake then fudge frosting then the other half of the cake.

ok so my question is how do you make the cheesecake without the crust and how do you make it hard enough to pick up? do you freeze it? if you have any secrets or tips to share i would love to hear them.

i want to make this cake for my birthday icon_biggrin.gif

Oooh that sounds delish......

Yeah I guess you'd just bake it without the crust and then freeze it and put it in...that's what I would do.

Or you could just cut it off the crust and then you'd have a nice big piece of crust to munch on....its so yummy anyway! haha.

Too bad I'm at work...that Throwdown was him against Alan of Junior's Cheesecakes and I have the recipe book at home. Haven't tried making any of them yet but they do look delish!

Hey Bridgett....I have Alan's cheesecake book too!

I made the NY style one for Thanksgiving...best cheesecake ever, except I didn't like the thin sponge cake crust...it was more a texture problem than taste, for me.

Also, I used the pan size that the book stated (9"), and it rose over the edge a bit...so next time, I would put less batter in and make their cupcakes (little fellas) with the extra, or just omit any crust.
