I need ideas my family have told me they don't want more cake for my sons first birthday ( we have alot of birthdays in may)
but I as his mother still want to do something special for him. Does any one have any ideas. I was going to do either a dump truck or a frog cake, but now I don't know what to make. If anyone has any ideas that could work for his birthday but not on cake I could really use some help[/u]
What if you used the dump truck theme and did it in RKT and covered in fondant. Then coming out of the bed of the truck could be "dirt" that is being dumped into a pile. The "dirt" could be something like dirt cake (made with cool whip, milk, pudding mix, butter, cream cheese and oreo cookies). This way you could still go with one of the themes that you wanted but give them something other than cake. HTH!
My 25 year old son doesn't like cake. I make him a RKT cake. I made a tiered cake for his last birthday and covered it with ganache....YUMMY.
I've made tiers of wedding cakes out of rkt.......and let me tell you PEOPLE love it!!!
What little boy doesn't like making mud pies.... You could make up a pie tin using a chocolate cookie crust and filling it with the dirt cake idea that was previously posted and make him his own mini dirt pie/smash cake.
One year I made my mom a dirt cake in a new flower pot and put silk flowers in it... She thought it was actually potting soil and flowers and at first refused to take a bit of the "dirt".
You could make a cookie cake...make a few layers of chocolate chip cookie in cake pans and then layer with ice cream or chocolate buttercream...then ice with cool whip, add cool whip border and sprinkles and gel writing or maybe a few of the boy's favorite figures or cars on top....
You could make an ice cream cake. It could even be iced with a picture of a frog or a truck to incorporate the theme and birthday message.
My DH is a huge icecream cake fan. Just use a spring form pan, soften some ice cream and spread it out in layers...maybe add some crushed oreos, caramel, or nuts as fillings.
OMG...I just gained 3 lbs!
I got this wonderful ice cream cake recipe on the Kraft website. You use ice cream sandwiches and layer them with a mixture of Cool Whip, crumbled Oreo cookies and instant chocolate pudding (dry mix) then you frost the whole thing with Cool Whip. It's easy to make and my grand kids love it. You could use chocolate Cool Whip and sprinkle it with dirt (Oreo crumbs) and then add cars, etc.
