Will someone please advise how to get the striations in the fondant shells? I have done just colored ones and now need some to look as close to real ones as possible. Thank you in advance for all help I receive.

I used a bit of light brown fondant mixed with white to make these shells. Just take a couple of pinches of both, roll them together a bit, and squish into your mold. Also used pearl luster dust to dust them after unmolding. They are pretty small since they went on cookies, but I think first impressions has a larger shell mold, if you need bigger ones. HTH
Thank you for all the answers!!! I wasn't sure about mixing the two colors of fondant together or not since I did not want them to look marbelled but, as though it was striated.

The ggod thing is that in the world of cake decorating it's really up to the artist. You can make them whatever color you want. Just go with what you feel.
Here's a great thread...disregard the title and scroll down to gscout73's post(s): http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=634043&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=15
do you just dust them with the dry pearl dust or do you mix the dust with vodka or another liquid to make it like a paint?
I used the pearl dust dry, works fine that way and you don't risk losing the detail in case you get it too wet.
